is it normal for a crohn's disease patient to have a swollen lip on one side? my upper lip is swollen. how can i treat this?

Generally  the swollen lip on one side is abnormal,however
The first thing we need to know how long you have noticed this swelling ?
What medications are you on ?
Is it painful ?
How big is swelling ?
Is it sharply defined or vague swelling ?
Any other rash on any other part of body ?
Do you have any ulcers in mouth ?
Are your teeth hurting ?
Do you have a fever ?
 Any lymph nodes swollen ?

Mucocele: Mucocele is a fluid fill cyst causing by depostion of fluid from minor salivary gland into tissue space.  It could be very easy removed by resection (a simple 5 minutes procedure).  It occurs as the minor salivary gland is injured during lip biting.  It may have blue tint color.

Compresses: First see someone who can help you with the habit of traumatizing your lip because of stress or anxiety. For the swelling try some compresses. If it does not resolve see a doctor.

If the swelling and pain lasts longer than 7-10 days, see your dentist or an oral surgeon.

Can call Dr on video: Persistent dry or chapped lips may be lip eczema, which can be treated like skin eczema, using hydrocortisone plus Vaseline or Aquaphor to retain moisture. Sometimes, lip sunscreen chemicals can cause an allergic reaction on the lips. Other times, a person is a primary lip-licker (it's her habit). Once cracked, lips get irritated by routine foods, juices, or saliva. A doctor can sort things out.

Cold sore: A cold spree tends to have a characteristic appearance with multiple tiny fluid filled blisters clumped together whereas a puncture wound tends to be more of a single penetrating injury.

Histamine blockers: Try histamine 1 blockers (such as benadryl, (diphenhydramine) allegra, zyrtec, claritin) with histamine 2 blockers (such as zantac, pepcid, tagamat).  Also try some ice packs for less than 5 minutes at a time.

Depends : It would depend on the cause.  If it is from trauma, it will take time and ice may help.  If it is from an unknown cause i would see a physician... Possibly a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

Allergy?: That could be as a result to allergic reaction to certain type of meds. Or foods.
