A bruise or worse...: Purple color may mean a bruise or bleeding under the skin. A sore muscle can be some bleeding from broken muscle fibers inside the muscle (called a muscle strain). If a person bleeds easily, there can be a hematoma in the muscle. If there are risk factors for a blood clot in the leg, such as recent surgery, injury, taking ocp's, sitting for several hours, etc..., the E.R. Or a doctor should check.

after healing of tibial fractures, should u always have pain, soreness & swelling in that leg?

For short peroid : Of time , six month after the healing of the fracture. There is period call the remodeling stage which could go on for several month, this may be cause what you are discribing.

would a leg clot make the leg feel sore for several months before actually hurting or would there be pain all along? could it go on for months and months without progressing? no redness or swelling either! need some clear info please?

: A significant amount of people with blood clots in a leg are unaware of its presence because they don't have classic symptoms. However,when serious complications of the clot occurs,pulmonary embolism and chronic lower leg symptoms and signs can develop. For peace of mind, have an examination by your MD or a vascular surgeon. Appropriate testing will be ordered and you'll get proper advice.

Sounds emergent: Any limb that is swells up and turns dark has likely lost part of all of it's blood circulation. That means an ambulance trip to the emergency room where the limb can be evaluated. Rapid treatment may be needed to try to save the limb.

Time for evaluation.: I can understand why your calves might be sore, especially after working in the yard all day. It might even be possible that some of your ankle swelling may also be caused by the extended yard work. Having said that, there could be something else going on that would best be determined by seeing your family doctor. Perhaps it's time for a physical exam and updated clinical evaluation.

You are saying that you have swelling and your legs are sore.It needs to be be checked by your doctor to find the cause of your complaint and treat appropriately

How do you feel : Now?  Is the swelling and pain better? Do you have any prior injury at the area? If no prior injury and the prior signs are at the calf, you may have a deep vein thrombosis. Keep leg elevated and see a physician asap. A simple doppler ultrasound will help to r/o superficial vs deep cases.

front lower leg just above the ankle  was sore this morning and now 10 hours later it hurts to touch, walk on and is swelling. could it be a clot?

Technically, : It could be but it is not a common place to get one. Gout is another possibility. I would see a doctor if the pain is that bad.
