Probably yeast: Yeast infections are pretty common problems, and easily diagnosed at your gyn or pcps office.  They typically are a thick white discharge and have itching associated with it.  To confirm the cause of infection your physician will usually take a small sample of the discharge and look at it under the microscope with a potassium hydroxide solution.  Confirm it with your doc.

See a Gynecologist: A sweet smell can be caused by sugar in your urine, glucosuria, which could occur if you have developed diabetes.
Some personal lubricants like Astroglide, have sugars in them, glycerine, which is sweet in taste.
The most common odor in a vaginal discharge is a fishy smell caused by bacterial vaginosis.  
Other diseases like Maple syrup urine disease are very rare.

Probably normal: This could very well be a normal "physiologic" discharge.   The belief that all vaginal discharge represents a problem and certainly hat all discharge is a yeast infection is just wrong.  If you are concerned, see your doctor.

Get tested : There are several causes of bad smelling vaginal discharge and testing is needed to determine the cause and treatment. The most likely is bacterial vaginosis. Bacterial vaginosis is an overgrowth of normal vaginal bacteria. It causes a watery discharge with a fishy odor. It is not sexually transmitted and your partner does not require treatment. It is treated with antibiotics.

On the other hand a discharge may be caused by ovulation, normal vaginal secretions, or recent sex.
