hi. i've been getting really painful, red, bumpy (sometimes pus-filled), sometimes itchy rashes in places and during times when i sweat more. allergy?

Where?: If these lesions are found mainly at the armpits and groin areas, they are most likely from an inflammation of the sweat glands. Topical antiperspirant may help but a low-dose antibiotic may be required for many. If the lesions occur elsewhere, do let me know where.

approximatey 3 weeks ago i was stung on the inside of my elbow (in the bend) by what appeared to be a sweat bee.  i immediately applied alcohol to the sting.  it has itched in that area every day since the sting and i apply alcohol each time it itches.  yesterday a cluster of 12-15 small bumps appeared in the area of the sting.  i am looking for advice on how to treat the area as it itches also.  thank you.

Depends: Depending upon the reaction to the sting there may be different treatments. Local reaction, while uncomfortable, can be treated conservatively. If one develops systemic symptoms, then allergy evaluation is warranted, venom immunotherapy may be considered and self injectable Epinephrine may be prescribed.

Avoid the food: The best current treatment for food allergies is avoiding that particular food.  After avoidance, antihistamines can decrease itching associated with food allergies.  The use of steroid creams or ointments may help, but should be monitored by a physician. An allergist can assist in identifying the specific food trigger.

Yes: The pollens that cause allergies are very small, and carried by the wind. Flowers need bees to cross-pollinate, because the pollen is too big and heavy to be carried by the wind. Since they're not airborne, people can't inhale them and react to them. Thus, the pollens found in bee pollen are not the pollens that cause your allergic symptoms.

Not studies: Everyone is different and thus there is no way to tell how much sweating it takes to trigger a reaction for each individual.

See a derm: I would recommend you see a board certified dermatologist in your area. There are many potential causes for your symptoms and rash. It may be eczema / atopic dermatitis.

See an allergist: An allergist can help you determine if the reaction you have to bees is life-threatening and offer you treatment for the allergy with venom allergy shot. You need an Epipen (epinephrine) if you have a bee allergy. Normal reaction includes large local reaction, itching, swelling in the area bitten. Difficulty breathing, hives, nausea, vomiting, passing out are examples of life-threatening reactions.
