Foreign body: Ingestion of foreign body may cause coughing. If the object is too large to be expelled by coughing can cause breathing problems, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, hemoptysis. There may be a period of no symptoms, followed by these  above symptomatology.

: If the piece of glass was small and not sharp it should have passed through the gastrointestinal tract by 2or 3 days without incident. However if it was a sharp piece of glass it can cause perforation. In view of your discomfort, consult a gastroenterologist for evaluation and advice.

Good....it's tiny: The good news is potentially harmful foreign objects that are accidentally swallowed pass through the GI tract (in 4-6 days typically) without complication about 80% of the time. 20% require endoscopy (removal by scope) but very unlikely in this case as piece is so small. Drink, especially, and eat generously so the speck will be moved along/cushioned. Rarely is surgery needed. Good luck!

: If you do not have any symptoms, you may watch and wait. The glass will get coated with mucus and pass through the intestine and be discharged in stool.

: Eat a good meal and observe the symptom. It is uncommon for that accident to occur and become symptomatic. You should be fine and forget about the incident. If abdominal pain persists or gets worse with new symptoms such as bloating, nausea/vomiting, etc. you should see a doctor then. Good luck!

Glass swallower : You should not worry. This is too small to cause blockage or bleeding. With an object that tiny, it is more risky to intervene to remove it. Likelihood, you will pass it in stool but may be too small to see. Eat plenty of fiber to bulk stool and drink plenty of fluids. These will promote regular bowel movements and passage.

what occurs if i swallowed quite a big bit of broken glass?

That depends: It if is rounded like safety glass, it may pass through you without difficult. However, if was a jagged shard of glass then it could become lodged against tissue & cause damage.  If this is the case then please go to your nearest emergency room for evaluation. Take care.
