No: Benzoyl peroxide is much more effective. Acne is not a hygiene problem. If the benzoyl peroxide isn't sufficient, please get with your personal physician. All acne can be managed nowadays.

It could help: Sulfur is an ingredient in certain topical medications usually in the form of a cream and/or cleanser. That medication is anti-inflammatory and can help to clear acne but best used in combination with other topical medications and/or oral antibiotics.

No no no!: Acne medications can be very irritating to open wounds.  A better option (in addition to a mild soap &amp; warm water) is an antibiotic ointment that's specifically used to treat open wounds along with daily wound care and protective bandaging until the wounds heal. Caution mixing: Benzoyl peroxide can be combined with Sulfur, Adapalene, Clindamycin, and Salicylic Acid. Sulfur medications can cause a severe allergic reaction. Do not use Benzoyl Peroxide/Sulfer during treatment with tretinoin (Altinac, Avita, Renova, Retin-A, Tretin-X). Using these medications at the same time could cause severe skin irritation even if used at different times of day.

Yes: It's a poor choice for acne control. Try salicylic acid as a wash, topical benzoyl peroxide, and/or a retinoic acid derivative. If you use these as you can tolerate and they don't clear you, get with your personal physician.
