Yes: Inhaling particulates can impact taste and smell for several days after inhalation.  Just provide yourself impeccable oral care for the next few days and consider investing in a tongue scraper, but this should clear quickly.  The other possibility is a sinus congestion impacting smell and taste, so consider treatment with decongestants too. Finally, B vitamin deficiency can cause taste abn.

Get checked: The most common reasons for a bitter taste include periodontal disease, tonsil associated infection, heavy  metal toxicity, and GI issues. So get checked.

Go see your doc: Bitter taste in the mouth may be a sign of Reflex Esophagitis.   You could try an OTC med call Prilosec and see if your taste returns to normal.   I would see your doctor as he/she needs to exam you and may need to order tests (H.Pylori, Possible ENT consult, or GI consult; 
Upper GI series.....)
He may also culture your throat as well.

See your dentist: A bad taste in your mouth could be a sign of gum disease, dental decay, or some other type of oral infection. It could also be a dental problem, or even a neurologic issue.  Start by seeing your dentist who will do a thorough examination and give you some suggestions. He/she may also want to include a physician as well. Call today!

Reflux: Is likely, in your case however suggesting biliary origin, based on bitter taste, usually sour with gastric acid. Before treating, a firm diagnosis should be secured and I recommend starting with your primary care doc or GP who can further coordinate tests and possible referrals as needed.
