Unlikely : Most of the research reports quite a few side effects from Asacol (mesalamine) hd, but weight gain is not mentioned as a reported side effect. It does note, however that increased appetite and abdominal distinction can occur, but not often. Perhaps these last two possible side effects are contributing to your symptom.  Might be a good idea to discuss this further with your doctor.

Hypothyroid: Have you re checked your thyroid function ? ( TSH, freeT4)) The symptoms you mention can be seen with hypothyroidism, may be that your dose is not sufficient .F/u/ w/ doc and get thyroid function checked.

Medical exam: and testing to include metabolic panel, lipid profile thyroid function studies and cortisol levels. You will need tight BP control. a supervised weight loss program, probably medicine to lower BP and possibly medication to address elevations of cholesterol or triglycerides if present.
