so i had a guess a cold (stuffy nose and ear pain and sore throat) it went away and then a day later the throat came back. its scratchy and when i lay down i have i think a post nasal drip. i also have indigestion (burping a lot) whats the problem?

: I still think your body is fighting off a common cold viral infection that'll most likely last a week or so.  If you feel that your belching is gas buildup from indigestion, avoid gassy foods &amp; beverages.  Don't force yourself to belch as you'll only keep swallowing more air. Taking simethicone 1/2 hour after meals prevents gas buildup.

Virus or bacterial : Probably a common cold, or could be the flu, or a bacterial infection. Rest, increase your fluids, and use over the counter cough and cold remedies as needed.  If the symptoms persisit, get worse, you get a high fever, mucus turns dark, then you need to see your doctor for a clinical exam and proper diagnosis and treatment.

will i get bad ear pain on an airplane if i have a small  cold like only a stuffy nose? if yes, will chewing or yawning prevent it for sure?

Answers: Maybe, No: Any kind of sinus congestion could block the eustacian tubes, causing mild barotrauma (ear pain) to the tympanic membranes.  If you have a cold and absolutely must fly, a good trick would be to use some over the counter Afrin (oxymetazoline) just before boarding the plane.  This should prevent any problems.  Be sure to throw it away after boarding though because any more use will put you at risk for problems.

3yr old has tummy pain, fever stuffy nose, dx with ear infec by doc but she has had no ear pain how is this possible and why does she have tummy pain?

Tummy pain : ear infections can be painless for sure. The picture you are describing could be viral infection that can cause ear infections and abdominal pain. Adenovirus is one example. Also, there are viruses called enterovirus that ca do that too but

Mgt: I would advise seeing your PCP for fever. prolonged cough or other prolonged symptoms. If you are short of breath or having problems breathing, I would advise seeing the ED. Otherwise a follow up appointment tomorrow with your PCP.  Probably this is a self limited viral illness with either a secondary infection, pleuritic inflammation, or bronchospasm.

Colds: Hi

you are describing the classic signs of a cold or "upper respiratory infection" if this is persisting or worsening you may need antibiotics or at the least a visit with your health care provider to make sure there is nothing worse going on.

Since : Since this is only a couple of days old, it be a viral infection.  If symptoms get worse over the next few days, or if they do not improve by a week, then you may want to go to the doctor.

Viral illness: This sounds like you either have a common cold or a flu-like illness. Doubt that you need urgent care, but always err on the side of safety, and if you feel poorly enough go and be checked. Drink lots of liquids, use OTC meds to alleviate symptoms (your friendly pharmacist can tell you if they are OK in pregnancy). Hope you are better soon.

Better see / call MD: She needs assessment, can still be a viral infection, but may have progressed and secondary bacterial infection kicked in, probably will need Rx medicines and  antibiotics, best wishes

Stuuffy nose &ear: Stuffy nose and ear can be due to allergies, in that case it will be recurrent or chronic and you need antihistamines and decongestants and consult an allergist.If it is acute and due to common cold then it will be self limiting, but to be comfortable and feel a little better you may use decongestants for couple of days.
