COPD: You have a form of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) which isn't your fault but happens to people from breathing the air we live in and/or second-hand smoke and/or bad luck. See your doctor as there are a variety of inhaler treatments that may very well help you. Be gentle with yourself: you're not 18 anymore. You may need to modify your exercise regimen but exercise is still advised.

Sleep and hydrate : Since you live in Singapore, it's probably very humid and you probably exercise in highly air condition environment.  Try hydration with a sports drink and try sweating it out without ac.  Also, improving your sleep (8 full night hours) is very important

Not quite: Strength training uses glycogen stores and breaks down muscle. Workouts can generate Lactic Acid in your muscles and body. Drinking and eating (food and/or shakes)after workouts helps to flush out lactic acid, restore glycogen stores, helps build and restore muscle tissue. Supplements such as vitamin e, and c help with muscle soreness.

Muscle soreness: Calcium, magnesium and zinc along with co q 10.  Minerals need to be in forms that are well absorbed.  Cal mag zinc in hydroxy acid oratates is good.  Or take magnesium malate for good absorbtion.  For co q 10 use the ubiquinol form which is eight times more absorbed than ubiquinone.

Yes: There are many vitamins & supplements that boost immune function. He could try a good multivitamin plus 2000 mg of vit, .C 2x/day, 5000 units of vit d in winter months & additional zinc.  Many herbs can also help, such as astragalus, ashwagandha & medicinal mushrooms like cordyceps. A healthy diet & stress reduction will also help. A good book is the road to immunity by kenneth bock md.

Exercise: Muscles tend to feel hard after exercise because they're filling up w/blood while attempting to flush out lactic acid, a metabolic byproduct of exercise. Build up of lactic acid leads to soreness.

Hypertrophy: Muscles become filled with blood when we exercise, and they grow. That's called hypertrophy. The soreness is from Lactic Acid build up, a by product  of exercise.

Ab injury: You probably strained an oblique or intercostal muscle and they can take a while to improve. sometimes a few months to fully go away.  would avoid significant ab/twisting motions if anything that aggravates it and heating pads, NSAIDs as needed shoulder help it resolve.
