can stopping birth control cause my period to be late?

Do pregnancy test: If you had sex since your last period and missed your period by 4-5 days, do a home pregnancy test. If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.
If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. 
Practice safe sex if you have sex.

after stopping birth control in the fall my cycle gradually changed from 28 days to 24. now my period is late. i don't think i'm pregnant. cause?

OOPS: Do a pregnancy test.  Most likely cause of a missed period...pregnancy!  If it is negative, see your doctor.  If it's positive, congratulations I presume, and see your doctor.

No: Metoprolol is used to reduce your blood pressure but has no known effects on your period.

Dould be: Sometimes takes a bit after getting off Depo-Provera to resume normal periods.

Common issue: It's not uncommon to have lighter periods on the pill: even no periods! this is because the uterine lining doesn't build up the way it does when you aren't on the pill. The lining is what is shed, creating your period! less lining = less flow. As long as you are a girl scout about taking your pill, you are not likely to get pregnant - but you are right to do a pregnancy test to be sure.

Talk to her, see gyn: You should take her to an appointment with a gyn together - if possible, because birth control pills are the best way to stop your periods.  Your gyn doctor can explain to her that ocps are used for cycle regulation all the time (safely) and can explain the safety data on them, as well as discuss the risks/benefits/possible side effects, and of course, make sure that they are a safe option for you.

If : If you take continual birth control pills (without the sugar or placebo pills) then your periods can stop.  Birth control pills can also lighten your periods.  However, if you are worried at all about pregnancy then please take a pregnancy test.

since starting birth control i've had thick black to brown discharge before and after my period... what is this? what causes it? how can i stop it?

May be normal: Many women experience abnormal bleeding during the 1st several months after starting an oral contraceptive. Make sure you take your pill at the same time every day.  If the bleeding persists after 3 packs, see your gyn, as you may need to change to a different pill, or an alternative type of contraception. Best of luck.

Yes/no: Can cause an abnormal and early period depending on where you are in your cycle. Unfortunately no, 2pills will not stop ovulation.

Bleeding: One possibility would be that your pill has too much estrogen and this can be a reason for bleeding. Talk to your provider who prescribes your pill.
