No and no: Barium is a contrast agent which helps the visualization of the bowel during X-ray studies. When given as an enema, it helps for large bowel(colon) examination.Orally, it can help for small bowel evaluation. Neither route is useful for imaging BOTH large and small bowel.If the patient has taken proper bowel preparation measures, there is in fact no stool in the bowel to degrade the visualization.

Associated problems: "Excess stool in the coloin" implies a motility disorder of the colon. A motility problem can involve multiple organs in the GI tract.
Stool does not generally back up from the colon into the small intestine, other than during episodes of colon obstruction.

Water: Water is absorbed as needed by the body throughout the small and large intestines, and if an excess of water is ingested, it will be illuminated by the kidneys. If you are constipated, drink plenty of fluids. Good luck.

It most certainly: Could but first you need to be tested to be sure that it is actually blood. Duodenal ulcers, crohn's disease, meckel's diverticulum can all cause bleeding and occur in the small bowel.

Green stool: green stool doesn't necessarily mean anything, i wouldn't put too much thought into the color of your stool until the colonoscopy report comes back

Inflammation : Bowel prep does not usually cause that , however it is possible.Crohns would cause you more severe symptoms and if it's was   the prep I would think that the inflammation would disappear after completing the procedure. Good Luck

pain in upper right abdomen.  had xray - stool in small intestines. perscribed docusate 100 mg. i am on a low salt diet.  ok to take this medication?

Yes: Each 100mg dose would add about 5mg of sodium to your diet. So, a few doses a day should not be an issue.
