Left sided pain: If it is low down on left side, it may be as simple as constipation.  If it is higher up on left side, an irritation to your stomach is possible such as gastritis.  There are many causes of abdominal pain, an exam and history with an MD would be advised.

Left sided pain: Under your left rib is your stomach, colon and spleen - thats it

time to get checked out as your spleen may be enlarged

an ultrasound is a quick simple and safe test.

No: it sounds like bones and muscles, splenic rupture wouldn't cause such symptoms, rather it would lead to internal bleeding and hypotension, but you still need to see your doctor for assessment, wish you well

my left side of stomach maybe my flank area is sore to the touch. if i poke it, it feels bruised. i have no other symptoms, no fever or anything. my anxiety is just really bad so i don't know if i should go to the emergency room?

: No ER, take 2 tylenol or 2 advil then observe the symptom. If pain subsides you are OK. If pain persists and fever or nausea/vomit or any other sx occur, you should then visit urgent care or ER if you do not have a family doctor.

LUQ anatomy: Anatomically, the left upper quadrant (luq) of abdomen includes: spleen, pancreatic tail, stomach, descending duodenum, splenic flexure of the colon, associated vessels. Don't forget the diaphragm, heart, and lower chest are pretty close by. The abdominal musculature, ribs, and skin can all contribute as well to localizing luq symptoms as described.

Get Evaluated!: If the pain is bad enough to keep you awake you need to have it evaluated ASAP by your provider, a walk in center or emergency room to determine the cause and treat appropriately.

Get to MD: Not enough info to tell, except that it could be serious. Get her to the md or the er -- soon !. Many things could be causing this and you need to find out what. Abdominal pain especially tender to touch can be serious. Go go go . Good luck.

Rib injury: Hard hugs can bruise or fracture ribs. If you're having severe pain and rib cage tenderness, I recommend rib xrays so you'll know how long healing may take. There is no specific treatment for either injury but duration is weeks for rib fractures. Hold onto your ribs when you have to cough or take a deep breath. We no longer strap rib cages when injured as pneumonia is a possible complication.
