gastro doc wants me to considerweight loss surgery. i'm 280, little reflux, many benign stomach polyps. i'm scared. any advice? rather loss naturally

Natural loss is best: Weight reduction surgery is a choice of last resort. if you can do it with your own efforts, that is the best way to control weight. Yet it is difficult and requires determination and firm, discipline in controlling your food eating habits. In other words it is a disease of the behavior.....so you have to change your behavior in terms of eating less and moving /exercise more and stick to it daily.

endoscopy done, multiple sessile polyps 3-6cm in size in entire stomach. does this require surgery? sessile mean cancer?

Just polyps: Sessile means fixed, with no stalk or directly attached to the mucosa. I am sure the gastroenterologist who performed the test took few biopsies,  the results of which will answer your question.

No: These type of polyps do not turn to cancer. That doesn't mean the cancer couldn't develop. Just the fact that your grandfather had stomach cancer does not pose a great risk to you most likely. Follow the recommendations of the doctor that did the endoscopy. If you're worried, you could always have the study Repeated In five years or so. Hope this helps!

Depends: Depends on size. Small ones can regress.

Polyp: May be small. Hard to judge otherwise.

Yes: While performing the endoscopic exam AIR is introduced to dilate and then properly observe the lining of your upper gastrointestinal tract!

It takes a while for this gas to pass!
4 days is absolutely normal..a week maximal after that consult with the endoscopist!

Significant: If the polyp in the sphenoid sinus is asymptomatic, follow it semi-annually.  The risks of sphenoid sinus surgery are related to the anatomical landmarks.  Superiorly, the pituitary gland, and laterally, the optic nerve and the carotid artery.  A well trained ENT doctor knows the anatomy of the sphenoid sinus and will take great care to avoid these areas.

Polyps may grow back: You should evaluate your reasons for removal. Obstructing polyps may grow back, but if the polyps are symptomatic, removal can be worthwhile. Asymptomatic polyps may grow back and allergic symptoms may worsen after removal.
