Yes: Dialysis is an exhaustive process..even though the patient just sits there for 4 hours getting the toxins removed from the blood.  Excessive fatigue is not uncommon at all.

Cut the gains: Abdominal cramps on hemodialysis occurs because fluid removal. If extra fluid gains are not removed, you will have shortness of breath and bloating enough to be life threatening. The only way out is that u drink less to gain less so removal of fluids will be less and more tolerable. The way to control liquid intake is to cut salt i.e. No cured meat, salami, pickles, etc, so u don't get thirsty!

Accepted Answer

Usually not: In pd the volume of fluid during each exchange is 2 liters and most patients are comfortable with that. We may use 1.5 l exchanges if someone feels swollen and doing pd in lying pistion sometimes help.

No: This could be a complication of dialysis,his underlying condition or could result from other causes. Your father needs to be evaluated immediately and treated. At his age with his comorbidity ,he susceptible to a host of infectious agents as well

: seoerate the intake by an hour or two for pepto bismol might interfere with absorption of azithromycin

: Eating a lot of sugar does not make your abdomen bloated and firm. A thorough medical history and physical exam need to be done for correctly answering your question. Unfortunately, he may now having medical problem.

: It only helps if bloating resolves without the feeling of stomach pain.

Bloated: Bloating is what the patient feels and it is not necessary seen on examination.  However, if distension is accompanied by bloating then it can be detected on exam.  So if there is bloating with distension, sucking in your abdomen fully as one would normally do may not be possible.  But if just bloated, yes, it is possible.

Causes of bloating: There are lots of reasons for gassiness & bloating, & not all of them are due to the GI tract. Even "functional" syndromes may be present without underlying "disease." however psbo (paralyzed gut) due to metabolic & inflammatory conditions nearby (like an untreated infection of gyne or urinary tract) must be considered. See doctor, esp. If no relief from otc simethicone, beano, & dietary changes.
