Shave or excision?: Moles are either shaved so that no sutures are used, or excised in order to prevent recurrence but will require sutures. In both cases you want to avoid scabs by keeping the wound moist with ointment so it does not scab and dry out. Both techniques can give an excellent cosmetic result but depend upon where the mole is.

will i have a scab or stitches, or both, from my mole removal? i have a raised mole on the bridge of my nose, just below my eyebrow. what methods of mole removal would leave that area to scab over, and what method would use stitches to close up the skin?

The : The answer depends on your skin type and the exact location and size of the mole.  If your mole is at the bridge of the nose, which is a "slightly concave" area, the healing tends to be a bit better than at a "convex" area of the skin such as the tip of the nose.  If possible, i typically punch remove these and place a stitch or two.  However, if it is small, a scrape of the lesion can be very cosmetically effective.  I would ask your dermatologist for advice on this one.

mole removal site seems to have a small, darker-colored line in the middle of the pink area. is this where the stitches came together? something else?

Persistence: Could be a remnant of the mole. See the doc who excised mole for assessment.

my stitches are bleeding a tiny bit after mole removal. do i need to get it checked out?

Accepted Answer

No: It is normal for small blood seepage to occur after mole removal, especially within the first 24 hours after surgery.  If pain, redness, or  fevers, chills, or swelling occur, contact you physician.

Stitch in time: Stitches on the skin can be removed between 10 -14 days depending on the vascularity and healing of the skin. Ask your physician when he or she wants to remove them. They should be removed with sterile instruments, then a sterile dressing is applied.

what's the appropriate post-op care for mole removal (dissolvable stitches)? when can i take the first bandage off and do i need to put new ones on?

MOLE follow up: YOUR DOCTOR SHOULD HAVE GIVEN YOU INSTRUCTIONS. 
ANY OVER THE COUNER ANTIBIOTIC CREAM WILL PREVENT INFECTION, BUT MANY DOCTORS NOW BELIEVE THAT RUBBING ALCOHOL IS JUST AS GOOD.
JUST KEEP IT CLEAN!
TAKE THE FIRST BANDAGE OFF CAREFULLY AFTER 24 HIURS

i received 1 stitch after a mole removal.my dr wasn't clear on aftercare.should i use neosporin and bandage the wound along w/ cleaning w/ soap & h2o?

Simple is best.: Just a band aid with a spot of neosporin should be fine.  No cleaning necessary.  Keep clean and dry until suture removal in about 7 days - or sooner if this is on your face.

stitches were removed yest on lower back from a mole removal. steri strips are now holding incision area.. a bit of bleeding occuring. is this normal?

Yes it is: yes it is, avoid stretching, and follow your surgeon instructions,keep you incision cream

Mole removal &amp; pain: Hello,
It is normal for you to have some discomfort three days our from a mole removal.  Notify your physician if you have increasing redness, swellling, or discharge.  Otherwise, you should start to feel a lot better soon.  I would clean it at least twice a day.  Good luck.  Dr. Kosari

Very minor.: See your dermatologist.  Depending on size, suspicion of irregularities etc, will depend on how it is removed, but usually a very minor proceedure.
