what do i do for fibroids that are still growing even though i don't have periods any more, other than taking out my uterus?

Have it checked.: Fibroids usually dont grow much in the menopausal years, in fact they are supposed tostop growing and in some instances they might even shrink a little after menopause.  It may be more concerning if there is rapid growth and or bleeding. Options for conservative treatment include uterine artery embolization or a laparoscopic myomectomy (removal of the fibroid and keeping the uterus).

i have 2 fibroids, 1 is 7.9cm and behind my uterus, the other is small.can i still get pregnant.am worried. i don't want to be operated cos am scared.

Absolutely: There are some issues with fertility in women with uterine fibroids. They usually involve the mass effect of the fibroid and less available uterine lining for implantation. Since up to 70% of women have uterine fibroids, most women with uterine fibroids are able to get pregnant.

iam 29 year old. i have two fibroids in uterus 1cm and 1.9 cm. am. i am trying for pregnancy since last two years. am i still get the pregnancy?

Yes: These are very small fibroids and should not affect fertility.  If you have not become pregnant after a year of trying regularly (sexual intercourse immediately following ovulation) you may want to consider an infertility work up.

Get a 2nd opinion: Depends exactly where the fibroids are because they will grow with the pregnancy and can cause a lot of pain and other problems if they get too big, i would get a 2nd opinion from an infertilty specialist.

May be the fibroid : If the fibroid is on the inner lining of the uterus it can cause prolonged spotting or bleeding. However there are other possible causes including hormones being off or infection or polyp on the cervix for instance. Speak with your doctor.

Time to see GYN MD: Heavy menstrual bleeding from fibroids can rapidly lead to a serious anemia(low blood level) with chronic fatigue which makes it difficult to do new child care. Fibroids can be removed without removing the uterus.(myomectomy).

have fibroid uterus and luteal cyst. was in er for threatened miscarriage today. can treatment of cyst and fibroids cause positive outcome with baby?

Miscarriage: The luteal cyst probably plays no role in the miscarriage fibroids can be a problem if they are big and occupying a good part of your uterine cavity not letting the baby expand. If you are pregnant, I am not sure what can be done now about your fibroids. Your obgyn should tell you.

Nothing: Just means your uterus is  tipped backwards and usually of no clinical significance.

are large fibroids outside the uterus easy to be operated on -penduculate?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Pedunculated fibroids are generally easy to remove, at least compared with other types. They are also less likely to cause bleeding problems and fertility issues, and less likely to require removal.
