Need more info: get evaluated. if truly weak you need to find out source of problem. need ortho eval and MRI

is stiff back and stiff legs signs of a popliteal aneurysm?

Accepted Answer

No: Popliteal aneurysms are usually asymptomatic until they become very large (>3 CM in diameter). Symptoms at that stage may be soreness behind the knee, swelling of foot or calf, or numbness/tingling of the foot, along with an easily palpable pulse behind the knee. Popliteal aneurysms are treated once they are >2cm due to the risk of clotting not rupture.

pls doc what could cause stiff back(waist) to be precise then its affects the tigh and calf of both legs? and what could be used in treating this.

Lumbar radiculopathy: From irritation of back like lifting muscle spasms can occur and the inflammation pinch the nerves and can manifest as discomfort wherever the nerves supply like the legs. This is not a perfect diagnosis since i cannot examine you. If that is so, pain meds (nsaids) and muscle relaxants and pt or massage can help along with muscle exercises but have it examined first.

feeling of lightning jolt sensation on front side of thigh. no real pain, but electric shock feeling. has happened a few times recently. stiff back but not bad. any ideas what it could be?

Jolt like pain : Sounds like these symptoms stem from a problem in the nervous system. This is not common in my experience from most back problems. I wonder if this is meralgia paresthetica-a pinched nerve where the lower abdomen meets the top of the thigh.  There are several other rare conditions that can be considered, like pelvic problems or some spinal conditions. See your doctor

i have had sciatica pain for 5 weeks now from heranited disc in l4/l5 how long will the pain last from in in my leg back doesn't hurt?

Not sure: I certainly suggest you continue to follow up with your doc.  You may be a candidate for a steroid dose pak or epidural injection.  Finally if u develop numbness or weakness surgery become an option.

Sciatica: 95% of people experience an episode of back pain and leg pain in their lifetime. Most episodes only last a few days but may require bedrest doing that time. Fortunately he has medication. Since he has already seen a doctor, he should wait a few days and return to his doctor if symptoms persist.

can a mri fail to see a compressed nerve causing sciatica with pain in lower back and weakness in leg(s)?

MRI not perfect: MRI is fairly good at finding structural compression but it is not perfect. Sometimes very small compressions generate large symptoms. Some compressions are dynamic and change over time and can be missed. Yet, if the MRI is completely normal, I would look at other causes of leg weakness.

Evaluation need caus: Lower back suggests there may be pressure on nerves or the facet joints can cause back pain as well as pain that radiates down to the legs. We also need to look at circulation which if impaired can cause back pain and leg pain especially with activity.

Accepted Answer

No: No, many structures from the low back can produce pain in the leg. This includes the discs, the facet joints as well the covering of the nerve sac called the dura. In fact i see more pain from some of these other structures than true sciatica. The quality of the pain from sciatica is also different.

my brother 28 went dr on friday w/ back & leg pain was told he has sciatica.today pain so bad he did not get out of bed, should he see a dr?

Sciatica: is an extremely painful condition and he should call his prescribing doctor to rule out the possibility of a herniated disc. He will need anti-inflammatory and pain medication.
