Benzodiazepines: Lorazepam is also known as ativan (lorazepam). Valium's generic name is diazepam. Both are used for sedation and anxiety. Valium has also been for muscle spasms. Lorazepam gets out of your system quicker and may be safer for older people. I assume by std you mean starting dose. 2mg is a typical starting dose for each. They are often take 2-3 times a day.

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for most cases: A 2 week course of cipro for bacterial non-std orchitis should be highly effective.  Antibiotics prescribed will depend on the patient age and underlying cause of the bacterial infection. Antibiotics commonly used may include ciprofloxacin (Cipro), ceftriaxone (Rocephin - only IV or IM), doxycycline (Vibramycin, Doryx), or azithromycin (Zithromax).

Twelve STDS: I am not sure 'casual' is in any way a definable medically sound term that means we understand each other. There are twelve common stds.  Those that are caught from in-sertive, skin to skin sex (penile to vagina) would be gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, hpv, syphilis. Scabies and very low risk for hepatitis b and hiv.  Theoretically these have to be on the list, but they would be low risk in general.

: A prescription is a direction by a doctor, to a pharmacist, to dispense a certain medication to a patient. A doctor can always dispense medications themselves and note it in the patient's chart. It's not uncommon.

Likely: I trust that hemochromatosis and wilson's were ruled out. You might get ultrasounded for fatty liver and/or recommended to increase your level of fitness. This is not especially high -- some healthy folks fall here -- and if your physican is not concerned, i would not be either.

: I assume there has been no trauma. You're describing inflammation of the testicle ( orchitis)  caused by bacterial or viral infection. Sometimes the cause is unknown. Epididymitis may be associated. Mumps is the usual viral cause. You should see a urologist ASAP for appropriate testing,accurate diagnosis, proper treatment and follow-up.

: Please get seen &amp; examined. You probably need antibiotics but the doctor needs to determine what the infection is to decide on proper treatment. Meanwhile drink plenty of fluids &amp; apply warm compresses to the boil.

Too soon: Gonorrhea and chlamydia testing is valid after 4-5 days, but no sooner. Blood tests for syphilis, HIV, etc take a few weeks. Be on the alert for symptoms like discharge from the penis, painful urination, or genital sores, which can show up any time from 2 days to a couple of weeks. Get checked ASAP if symptoms appear, otherwise best to wait a few days.
