Generally No: Although it is possible for a std to cause some bleeding it is not very likely.  What is more likely is lack of proper hygiene.  I suggest you get to a dentist and have a dental hygienest give you each a proper dental cleaning.  With that and proper brushing and flossing in the abscence of periodontal disease (gum disease) your bleeding will most likely go away.

Yes: Herpes simplex, gonorrhea, hpv, for instance, all can have lesions located on the gingiva.

STD's and Gums: Yes - there are. Gonorrhea, syphilis and herpes can cause gums to swell and hurt when you eat or drink certain foods, particularly those that are acidic in nature.  Please get checked by your physician first to be sure that you are healthy, and then get referred to an oral surgeon and/or oral pathologic for an accurate diagnosis!

gave oral sex a week ago. the gum around a tooth is swollen. and my gum feels a little weird. does this indicate oral std. and how can i fix it?

: It is unlikely any STD is responsible for your tooth/gum problem. However, conceivably gonorrhea could do this and can be transmitted by oral sex. See a doctor or clinic, to include oral swab testing for gonorrhea. It probably will be negative, but better safe than sorry.

: Zero risk. Nobody ever gets any STI from oral contact with non-genital parts of the body, including breasts and nipples. Do not get tested.

: HIV is transmitted through broken skin, open wounds, but mostly through mucosal membranes which is not what above scenario describes, other infections remain possible. A reliable site is cdc.gov in clarifying HIV transmission.

Tooth abscess ? : The gum lesion is likely part of a draining abscess, for that you need a dentist and/or an oral surgeon, the skin eruptions on face and cheek are probably due to acne- treatment is daily cleansing, benzoyl peroxide, and if severe, retin A (tretinoin) from your dermatologist. If you are worried about STD will need a full exam and serologic&amp;#40;blood&amp;#41; testing with the appropriate screening tests- per your GP/ER md

Yep: Syphillis is one std that causes sores.  They are called chancres.  They can be located anywhere in the mouth.  Go see a doctor and a round of antibiotics could clear up the whole problem. Just don't have any physical contact with anyone until you are cleared. Not a nice "gift" to give to others.

Possible: When we speak of std's we are referring to chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, & hiv.  Oral sex may result in sore throat which affects the nasopharynx.  Any one of these diseases can produce symptoms of irritation  associated with bacterial or viral infection.  Bleeding gums are a sign of gingivitis or periodontitis which is in itself a low grade infection.  You should be tested for std's.
