Nodule: A painful nodule can be a manifestation of an allergic reaction, infectious disease, hypersensitivity reaction to drugs, and other diseases.  It is important to know where the nodule is, what medications you are on and whether you are having other symptoms such as cough, bowel problems arthritis.  You should see your primary care doctor.  He may refer you to a dermatologist for a biopsy.

Self Harm: She should be involved in counseling. Talk to her school and she if there are any worrisome issues there. She may be under significant stress. In the meantime distraction or ignoring the behavior might help. Medication may not be the best answer. All the best.

Bruising: You are correct that bruising does become more common as on ages.  This is most commonly associated with decrease subcutaneous fats. Other factors are typically more people on blood thinning medications or anti platelet agents. If you are in your 30's looking for an underlying cause would be good idea.

The lump: probably represents an old HEMATOMA or blood clot!
Apply ICE and if this does not help consult a General Surgeon....by this time the clot should be well "organized" even CALCIFIED an removable!

hi, my son who is 6 has just been nipped by our dog on his bottom and its made a bruise and small graze, it was through his pants, not straight on to his skin. does he need to go in for an injection?

Dog bite: Dog bites can be sources of infection. Your son should be seen by a Dr to evaluate the bite area. If your Dog is completely vaccinated then there is no chance of rabies. BUT, since your dog has bitten a human, it should be assumed that it will bite again, and should therefore be kept under strict control away from others.

Ice on a bruised area for the first 2-3 days can limit its extent and then use heat help the body disperse the blood.

These spread through the interspaces under the skin leading to the bluish discoloration called a bruise. Unless associated with bleeding disorders, or the trauma caused deeper injury, these can be treated with icing for 2-3 days and then heat later to resolve the bruise.
