Astrocytoma: There is no "residue" left from radiation therapy what is more likely be described is "residual" tumor still present after treatment. That residual tumor would be closely followed for any potential growth and could need further treatment.

Complex: The epilepsy won't affect the tumor, indeed it may be a result of the tumor.  Removing the tumor surgically and following with radiation and/or chemotherapy will help with seizure control.  Some anti-seizure medications interfere with some chemotherapy, so your doctors will have to adjust what they give you to avoid problems with that.

Survival for GBM or: Stage IV glioma is quite poor, half succomb by 14 months, and &gt; 90% by 2 years.  Younger, completely resected, better functional people tend to do the best, but there are no cures.  My dad died of this at age 63 31 years ago. Temozolamide is new since then. Senator ted kennedy is the most recent celebrity to survive about 18 mos from dx. These are the cold facts.

No: Brain tumors- glioma is the most common, cannot be cured without surgery.  It's fortunate that your glioma is low grade but removing it is the only way to get rid of it.  Tumors can always change also- becoming malignant after they have been low grade.
