That's a good idea.: For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes –  see physician ; get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have strep throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Consider tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with aloe vera juice twice a day.

See Dr.: With your voice being "gone" it appears you at least have some irritation/inflammation of your larynx (laryngitis) and should see a dr. To evaluate you for possible bacterial infection that may require antibiotics vs a viral infection.  Best wishes.

Could Be Related: Many things can cause throat irritation.  An upper respiratory tract infection, allergies, recent trauma from scratching food.  Ibuprofen salt water gargles and fluids can help greatly.  If things are not improving or worsening please see a physician in the near future.
