Splenectomy: Removal of the spleen is the treatment for enlarged spleen, however this is not dpne on all cases who have enlarged spleen. Dr will need to determine what is the cause of the enlarged spleen. Thrre is no oral medication to directly shrink spleen size.

try Ibuprofen: I am assuming that her splenic pain is due to splenic sequestration. Blood may suddenly pool in the spleen. It  causes splenic capsule to stretch out causing pain, but also causing her hemoglobin to drop, and may make her very sick. Mild splenic sequestration is tolerable, and for that, one could give Ibuprofen or acetaminophen, but for severe pain, i would recommend a visit to an emergency room.

Yes: Yes it is safe in moderation.

See details: Removal of the spleen is not a guarantee that the itp will resolve. There is the usual small surgical risk and you will need Pneumovax vaccinations to protect you as the risk of pneumococcal infection is increased after splenectomy.

i had spleen removed in 1977.  i had 3 big tubes pumping blood. was this a blood transfusion? i been dignosed with hcv trying to figure out how i got it. i have never done drugs or had multiple sex partners.

It : It is possible you had a blood transfusion.  You could check with the hospital to see if they have records of you having had transfusions there. Best wishes.

No: Maybe 25% of healthy folks have an accessory spleen or even a few of them.

Very unlikely: to have ectopic pregnancy outside the pelvis, even if it happens, won't last for long, can easily be detected by ultrasound or other imaging study, check with your doctor, but what makes you think you have, or anybody else has?

Abdominal pain, especially when it's sharp and as painful as you describe, could be a sign of something very serious.
