Likely Arthritis : It sounds like you might have lower back Arthritis or spine issues which can arise even in young patients with history of motor vehicle accident or other injury in the past. Kidney stone pain can be excluded by a good physical exam. See a Doctor please.

See below: Muscle spasm is usually secondary to something else. For instance a disc herniation can cause muscle spasm. Treating the spasm is ok but is only treating the symptom not the cause. See a doctor who specialized in the treatment of spine conditions.

Many possibilities : It’s hard to say what this is without more information.  Which part of your back hurts?  Is there an injury?  Do you have any medical conditions?  Are you taking any medication?

Depends: There are many potential causes of  low back pain with muscle spasms.  The most common causes are related to strain or injury to the mucles and/or structures of the lower spine.  While a "cure" often depends on the actual cause, prevention can be obtained by maintaining a healthy weight, good flexibility, and a strong core.  See your physician if you have pain greater than 2 weeks.

i suffer from anaphylaxis due to latex, i now have muscle spasms in my back. what can i do to treat them?

Avoid pain patches: Medication patches applied to the skin delivering drugs like local anesthetics often contain latex. If you have a history of anaphylaxis to latex these patches won't trigger anaphylaxis. You will get eczema or contact dermatitis on the skin under the patches. You'll need to stick with oral medications or a tens units. There are latex-free electrodes for a tens unit.

i am taking 800mg of skelaxin (metaxalone) 3 x daily and still having bad muscle spasms in my back. can i take 1600mg at one time and would that help?

Check with doctor: You should never change dose of a medication (especially things such as muscle relaxants) without checking with your doctor.  Certainly taking DOUBLE the dose all in 1 fell swoop as you suggest is out of the question and I'm sure your medication papers will tell you this. You may need to be re-examined to see if you're really suffering from muscle spasms and what their cause may be for better TX.

i found valium perscription expired 5 years ago. i'm unable to walk bc of muscle spasms in my back. is the valium safe to take?

Not clear: The Valium may be "safe" but may not truly be effective at this point.  A lot better to update prescription and get fresh medication.  Better yet, have your physician check out why you are suffering the "spasms".

i am a 46 woman with chronic muscle spasms..(in my back and  neck)i have straightening of laodoses.my main concern is chronic numbness in my shoulder ?

Pinched nerve: You have same process in the neck that you have in low back. This process is arthritis in neck also. As a result probably some nerves that supply to skin over shoulder seem to have been pinched and you feel numbness.

i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 2 years ago lately i've been having uncontrollable muscle spasms in my back & numbness under rite shoulder. plz help?

Pain: As you already know, fibro is related to pain in many body areas and is not well explained sometimes.  Rheumatologists are traditionally considered the best experts to talk to for treatment.  Only word of caution, do not assume that all pain is related to fibro, may be something else, so basic exam of the problem is worth your time.
