Constipation: Soy formulas are usually more constipating that others, but the opposite can be true as well!  The only way to figure out which formula is best for a baby's digestive tendencies is by experience.  It can take up to two weeks after a formula change for the results to be known, so rapid formula changes is best avoided. A common trial sequence is:  cows milk based, lactose-free, soy, elemental.

Diarrhea: Diarrhea after a salmonella infection can be due to continuing infection(until cultures of stool are negative),antibiotic associated diarrhea(if you were given them), or post infectious irritable bowel syndrome  which can last weeks. Your physician,who knows all your findings, can advise you best.

Possible: Irritable bowel syndrome.  Inflammatory bowel disease could possibly present this way.  You should see your doctor to discuss further.  May need referral to gastroenterology for a colonoscopy to further investigate especially if you have any blood in your stools.

i was given two shots of penicillin this morning and now i am haven't very frequent bowel movements.  is this normal?

Antibiotics: Although antibiotics can eventually cause diarrhea, they would not have that effect within the same day of receiving them. There must be another cause of your frequent stools. Perhaps it is related to whatever reason you actually received the antibiotics in the first place. If the problem persists, contact your doctor. Good luck.
