i have red sores at the back of my throat and my throat is very sore. i don't have a fever, but it hurts to swallow. what is this?

Herpangina: Usually viral tonsillitis...Herpangina, mono, herpes stomatitis  which usually resolves but takes forever ...Bacterial causes are strep throat etc... Quick visit and testing should pinpoint the culprit ! in the meantime lemon & honey gargle works great! regards!

i have a sore throat with small sores on the back of my throat and it hurts to swallow. i also have a stuffy nose. what could this be?

Doctor can examine: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some cause such as other viruses, allergies, or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly. Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin (ibuprofen) may temporarily lessen pain.

have salivary/parotid sarcoidosis now have polyp/canker sores under tongue and side of tongue in back.hurts down neck and ear also.can this be sarcoid?

Not likely: Sarcoid in the mouth, uncommon, presents as papules. You may need something for aphthous stomatitis.

Tonsillar crypts: You may have tonsillar crypts or shallow pouches in the structure of your tonsils that can trap food and other debris leading to bacterial overgrowth. I'd recommend gargling with salt water several times daily and drinking plenty of water with meals and throughout the day. If you notice any fever, redness or other symptoms, I'd suggest visiting your PCP or ENT for evaluation.

Hard yawing: You must be yawning very hard. The obvious answer is to stop yawning.  One of the most common causes for yawning is not getting enough sleep.  Most people need 7-8 hours of restful sleep. Sleep deprivation makes you more likely to become ill and more likely to die sooner.

yesterday i had white patches in the back of my throat, today they're barely there but it still hurts like it did yesterday. what could it be?

Virus: It could be a viral infection of the throat.  Viruses can cause white patches just like strep.  I would recommend seeing a doctor or urgent care if you have the sore throat, NO cold symptoms and also have a fever, stomach pain, headache or rash.

what is white chunky stuff on my uvula it makes me feel like a loose skin back there but not hurts when i eat and the sides of my throats are red?

Dead skin: The white chunky stuff is basically the equivalent of dead skin, probably caused by an infection. It'll slough off when the infection clears.

i took a bite of food w/o letting it cool off first. scalding hot. t burned the back of my throat really badly. it still hurts. should i be concerned?

Give it time: It's unlikely that the hot food did any serious damage. Give it a little time and it should get better. If it isn't significantly better in 48 hours see an ENT or Oral surgeon to examine it.

See a doctor: You may have strept throat or a virus. Allergy drainage can also make your throat sore. The only way to know for sure is to get a strept test.
