Carpal Tunnel: The theory with exercise is to "work out the pain, " like many pro athletes do. But the inflammation from the repetitive wrist injury needs to be addressed, which is why the pro athletes combine a regimen of therapy and exercise. Nsaids may reduce the inflammation and ice the area after exercise, and see if that helps. Otherwise, you may not be able to exercise until you tackle the inflammation.

Simple solutions are splinting NSAID  ice and stretching but done wrong it can make things worse so get evaluated.

Overuse: tendinitis. Use a wrist support and anti inflammatory medication like Advil or Aleve, (naproxen) if not allergic to these medications. If not improved in 1 week- get an xray.

Non steroidals: At only 5 days postop, you should expect to still have some discomfort.  Ice might help but Aleve (naproxen) or Motrin should help at this point.  If you feel that your pain is beyond what you were told to expect, you should check with your surgeon.

Tendonitis: First off, the swollen vein may not be significant. The painful wrist can develop from a poor position during sleep, it may subside with immobilization of the joint (an ACE bandage) to limit motion, but not so tight that it may cause swelling of the hand. On the other hand it may go away on its own.

Possibly surgery: Conservative treatment for carpal tunnel including splints, anti inflammatory meds and steroids work in the early stages but do not provide great long term relief as the condition worsens. Surgery can provide great relief and if done endoscopically can allow a rather quick return to function with minimal pain compared to traditional techniques. I would recommend an evaluation by a hand surgeon.

Sx's: The most common symptoms of a cold are sneezing, running nose, feeling tired, congestion and scratchy throat.  Additional symptoms can be coughing, headaches, mucus dripping down the back of the throat, loss of appetite and fever (in children). 
Your wrist pain may be a red herring. People usually feel quite ill with the flu.
