Anxiety?: You describe a nervous tic.  Many people develop such a tic due to anxiety.  They may also develop headaches.  Your question suggests that you are anxious about these events.  Try relaxation exercises and calming methods.  Rest your eyes and neck frequently.  Adjust your computer screen, be sure your glasses are correct, and rest often while reading.

Diagnosis?: Facial twitching could be due to facial myokymia, hemi-facial spasms, facial tics in tourette's syndrome, focal motor seizures, hyperthyroidism,  and possible medication reactions.  Get answer as to etiology, and then treat.

Get examined: A couple possibilities include hemifacial spasm, and facial myokymia.  Both could be secondary to problems at base of brain or brainstem, and best to see your doctor and probably a neurologist.

A neurologist: may give you the answer.  There is an eye condition that can cause twitches and another condition called Tourette's Syndrome that can cause muscular movements and in some folks sounds.  If doctors still don't have a clear diagnosis biofeedback from a licensed psychologist can help relax those tense muscles.  Peace and good  health.

Time for Appt: I did some research as I haven't had a patient ask me this question before. White Dot Syndrome appears to match your question. It is an inflammation on the inside anatomy of the eye. I would recommend seeing an Ophthalmologist for a full eye exam to determine the cause.

Tic Disorders evolve: Over time. His 2 motor tics, facial twitches & moues (faces)  can occur alone or as part of a neurodevelopmental disorder (asperger stndrome, adhd, or tourette syndrome). Are his conversational skills & reciprocal social interactions as good as his ability to talk about his favorite topics? Is there a family history of ts, ocd/ anxiety disorders, adhd? The tics won't hurt him; do tell his doctor.

See Dr. if persists: Twitching of an eyelid, which happens in normal people, is called myokymia (an involuntary, spontaneous, quivering of a few muscle cell bundles within a muscle). Myokymia starts and stops spontaneously. In the eyelids, it can last a few minutes to a few days. One should see an ophthalmologist (MD eye doctor) if such symptoms persist, keep recurring, or are combined with any other symptoms.

Several causes: Eyelid twitching is very common, and often occurs from stress, fatigue, lack of sleep, and overuse of stimulants such as caffeine and decongestants. Local eye irritation can also add to this, such as dry eye, allergy, and blepharitis (eyelid infection, inflammation). Eyestrain and excessive reading can contribute. Try reducing the stress/stimulant factors, and get an eye exam for the other causes.
