i just got over plurisey still dealing with the muscle pain from it and i started coughing today and heard a pop and now my ribs hurt again why?

Pleuritic pain: The pain can come from several sources- muscles are between each rib and can be strained (spasm); you can affect the rib position where it meets the breast bone (or sternum) (dislocation); the connective tissue or cartilage can be inflamed where it meets with the rib; or you could have a rib fracture from the force of coughing. If the pain is intense, it might be a good idea to get a chest xray.

i am having horrible rib pain on my left side. it's sensitive to touch & move. it pops whenever i breathe out. have any suggestions?

Costo-chondritis: You may have costo-chondritis.  The ribs come together at the end and join with a cartilage joint. Sometimes this joint is pulled apart or injured.   It pops and is painful.  Treat with anti- inflammatories and or cortisone injections.   Rest is good too.

Rib pain : A persistent rib pain can be because of rib fracture or a lesion   an x-ray will be helpful.

Rib pain: The symptom you describe does not sound related to a cardiac problem. The pain could be related to a musculoskeletal inflammation and may improve with rest and/or antiinflammatories(Tylenol (acetaminophen) etc.)If you have cardiac risk factors and the symptoms persist you may want a formal evaluation by your primary care doctor or cardiologist.

i have had cronic rib pain for a couple years now. what is it.  i also have troubl going to the bathroom every day but im not sure if thats related?

Unrelated: Chronic rib pain uncommon. Needs more work up to know..Could be damage to cartilage at end of rib, old boney injury, growth on rib or occasionally muscles between ribs.Very unlikely connected to constipation. Try increasing fiber in diet or supplement and taking stool softener such as colace (docusate sodium).

hi i have been working out and about a week ago i squatted very heavy weights and pushed myself now i have this lower back spine rib pain. will it go?

Probably : Lbp after doing heavy squats is not uncommon.Usually a muscle strain and will improve w/ time . If it does not improve in next couple of weeks w/ rest , nsaids and cross- training or u develop pain which radiates down a leg see an ors for evaluation. Good luck!

Yes: It is not uncommon to fracture a rib while coughing. As you were told you have the flu it would be advisable to get X-ray to look for rib fracture and the possibility of pneumonia . Perhaps tamiflu (oseltamivir) would help as well.

my left rib: pain & severe pressure, sticks out further than right. what feels like airpocket pops up in left side&back. hard to breathe/swallow.

Usually needs 911: Such symptoms could be a collapsed lung (pneumothorax) due to an air leak from the inside of the lung through the covering of the lung, out into the space between the lung and the ribs. With trouble breathing, one usually needs to call 911. To treat it, the doctor sometimes inserts a catheter or chest tube between 2 ribs and sucks the leaked air out. The lung then can re-inflate to full size.

nausea,  loss of appetite,  nausea after eating,  back pain, rib pain,  now tingling in legs and arms. told i have a mild hydronephrosis . having a cystoscopy on friday.  i feel like something is wrong with my kidneys that needs urgent treatment?

Hydronephrosis : A doctor ordered the test that found hydronephrosis. So he or she has information which I dont have. Why was the test ordered? Do you have an infection in the hyronephroiss . Do you need a urine culture to rule out a kidney infection? I am not sure without an examination and more details
