Long time in hair.: Marijuana crosses the placenta and has untold effects on the developing brain of the fetus. Nobody has studies these effects in detail, but they may not be severe. Thc can be detected in hair analyses from newborns weeks after maternal use.

Can last weeks: It usually peaks on day 2-3 and may stay pretty nasty for 3-4 more days, but generally decreases by one week out and rarely lasts more than 2-3 weeks, at least in terms of acute effects (anxiety, irritability, craving, restlessness) but some decrease in concentration, sleep disturbances and continued craving at a lower level can go on for months.

Hard to say: Difficult to say without more information, but he is greatly shortening his lifespan as well as the harming the quality of his life with continued smoking. Quitting is the single best thing he could do for his long term health.

Ingestion vs smoking: is the same. Some of the breakdown products will accumulate in body stores (fat). Recurrent exposures will lead to larger quantities of the fat soluble terpenes being temporarily stored in fat.

May be not: Weed is not likely to delay bone healing but over time it will progressively mess up your head. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

i've been taking 100mg zoloft (sertraline) for depression for about a year. can i smoke marijuana? i am experienced with pot smoking and i no longer feel depressed

You can, but don't: Of course you are in charge of what you do or don't do.  But i suggest refraining from marijuana if you have a history of depression and are on zoloft (sertraline).  It doesn't matter that you're "experienced with pot smoking.".

: While smoking weed can temporarily increase heart rate &amp; blood pressure, once a week use shouldn't significantly negate effects of lisinopril
