Maybe lying?: Could be that somebody is lying about their use of tobacco or could be second hand smoke exposure. Get a good history from all of your roommates.

33/m. never smoked. no cough, intermittent sob, relieved with inhaler. clear cxr, lung sounds normal. allergies/pn drip, and sometimes very small streaks blood in mucus after throat clearing. also have blood in nose occasionally. suggest lung cancer?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor. If your symptoms are stable, you have not lost weight and SOB is not worsening, you may watch and wait.

Doctor can evaluate: A cough that's not getting better should be evaluated by a primary care doctor, to see if there is an infection (viral, bacterial, mycoplasma, etc...), an allergy problem, an asthma problem (would then consider asthma medicines such as inhalers), etc...

Because its a toxin: The lungs were not made to inhale smoke, and if an irritant such as smoke is introduced there job is to try to get it out by causing coughing and increase mucous production. Be lucky that your lungs are telling you that they do not like it and please listen to them.

Another infection?: This might be more of an Acute Sinusitis followed by Bronchitis symptoms.
First, Azithromycin  is only for 5-6 days, which is considered therapeutic for academic purposes, but usually  takes 2-3 weeks of antibiotics to clear infection. Also, when lying down + getting a cough usually indicates that Post Nasal Drainage is the cause for the cough.
Advise warm compresses to face; nasal saline spray

Lump: You need to have this evaluated by your doctor.  This would not be a usual finding after a cold&gt;.

Stop smoking: One week of throat pain is not an indication that you have throat cancer.  But if you continue to smoke, it is possible that some day that may occur.  You are only 18 and the symptoms are more consistent with an upper respiratory tract infection, which can be made worse by smoking.  Smoking at your age is bound to cause increased infections and decreased immunity.  Try to stop.
