Take a test: The first order of business after a missed period is to take a pregnancy test.  They are reliable as early as the first day of a missed cycle.  There are many things that can cause irregularities of menstrual cycles, most are not worrisome in the long run, but some require treatment.  Your gynecologist can evaluate you if your cycle does not start soon.

Take pregnancy test: You have not really asked a question here, but i'm guessing that you may be concerned about possible pregnancy.  If so, you can take a home pregnancy test once you've missed your menstrual period.  It will be accurate a week after your missed period -- some are accurate sooner.  Or, visit your doctor who can provide a serum test.

? reasons?: Missed/late period: low body wt, obesity, weight ^ or v,  ^exercise, endurance athletics, breast-feeding, stress, illness, eating disorders (bulimia or anorexia), anovulatory cycle (no egg released), travel, perimenopause, just starting menstruation, hormone irregularities, drug use, meds (i.e., birth control) or medical problems (i.e., polycystic ovary syndrome). #1 reason is pregnancy.

Wait : Wait and watch ,irregular periods are very much common. ,so wait for 2 weeks ,sometimes it takes time for the body to adjust to hormones  change if you donot get it in a month ,do a pregnancy test and if negative see your obgyn may be she can give you provera to help you

Missed Period: If you are not sexually active and pregnancy is not a possibility, then a missed period is usually not a big deal.  It could simply be late, or you may not get it at all this month.  A normal cycle is between 21 and 35 days.  This would not be anything to worry about unless you miss 3 periods in a row.  Make sure pregnancy is not an issue!

: Conception occurs within a day or so of the sex. It takes about 3 weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG for a positive pregnancy test. A blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first-morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully.

See answer: If you had unprotected sex, you can still get pregnant at age 45, so check a pregnant test.  If not pregnant, and you miss your next period too, than see a gyn dr. For an evaluation.  Best wishes.

Evaluation needed.: A visit to your primary care or OB/Gyn is in order. The most likely cause is menopause, which can be verified by hormone testing. The other cause which should be excluded is pregnancy which can also be checked with a blood test. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!
