i have a small growth on my face just above my cheek, under my eye. it looks like a chrysanthemum, and its brown & pink. is it a wart?

Possible: At your age 19 possible  . A papilloma caused by hpv virus, show to your doctor , to make sure what it is and for treatment.

does a small wart near my eye indicate hpv?  is hpv chiefly an std?  lastly is this wart contagious to my kids if they touch it?

NO    YES    NO: Probably an achrocordon, not a wart. See a dermatologist. Routine, easy fix. HPV =STD. Not contagious.

Allergies or bleph: Allergies and blepharitis cause itching . Over-the-counter allergy medicine and eyedrops help relieve it. Zaditor (ketotifen) is a good eyedrop. Blepharitis also causes itching is a minor infection of the eyelids associated with stys. Crusting and tearing is common. Warm compress with daily baby shampoo washing of the eyelids helps relieve this. Severe cases are placed on antibiotics by your doctor.

No: Sexually transmitted HPV warts are habitat specific.They are specific to the genital skin or the lips (in the immunodeficient). The rest of the skin surface of the body are prone to the common wart.

is it possible that genital warts can be transferred to the eyes? can genital warts cause blindness? if not how so?

Not common: I've personally never seen a case of genital warts in or around the eyes.  I wouldn't say its impossible but that its very uncommon, even with exposure.  Best wishes!

what are these flesh colored bumps on my sons nose and under his eyes? was told by a derm that it was flat warts but dont think that may be the case. they dont itch or cause pain.

Std's: Eye contact with semen is contact of a potentially infectious fluid with a mucous membrane. Thus transmission of many stds can occur--a person infected with HPV may be infected with other diseases. HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea--these can all be transmitted in this manner and enter the body through the eye. You should be checked for stds including HIV by your physician.

No: But genital warts will cause cancer of cervix , possible oral cancers if transmited to oral cavity. At you age of 22  should consider vaccination to prevent above.

Site specific germs: HPV strains infect only the tissue types where they like to live.Genital strains only infect genitals, If you are immune deficient like HIV or otherwise a rare HPV wart may appear on the lip margin but then only with sexual contact. These germs do not pass casually as if they were staph/strep. It is ALWAYS a good idea to wash your hands before touching your face/eyes.
