Yes: Please see your family physician. You could have a herpes infection or other viral infection or also a yeast infection  that should be treated now.

Tough to say: without a visual of what you are describing. It's very possible that it's a normal condition of the tongue because there are indeed many bumps on the tongue. Sometimes a map-like pattern of reddish spots can occur, called geographic tongue, which is harmless. If you have a fever as well, get checked ASAP to rule out scarlet fever which needs prompt treatment. Have someone take a look either way.

If it is painful and/or has been present for 10 days or longer, have it examined by your dentist or an oral surgeon.

Can't see: Can't see the red dot or physically examine your tongue.  Could be from getting cut on a crust of bread, or burning it with a hot pizza, or biting your tongue, or a myriad of other causes.  Call your Dentist and make an appointment to be seen if you are concerned.  If it's not gone in 10-14 days, make sure not to be seen ASAP.

See a Pro: Tobacco (smoked, dipped, chewed, inhaled or not) causes Cancer.  Quit now.  If you can go 2 full weeks without tobacco use and the red spots disappear, you're probably OK.  If red spots persist, see an Oral Surgeon immediately.  This all hinges on your quitting tobacco use immediately, fully, completely.

Dentist's evaluation: Have the lesion  examined by a dentist or oral surgeon to determine if biopsy is warranted. It can be a reactive process that will be self-limited (may disappear on its own) or an unusual growth that must be biopsied and examined by a pathologist.

Probably normal.: Tongue is a very strong muscular organ, that's coated with an outer epithelial 'skin' that has deep hills, valleys, crypts.  These can appear as pockets or bumps all intermingled with each other.  All this is normal. If some have red dot, may be a blood spot where tooth slightly bit tongue. Suggest:  gently brush tongue--top and sides daily with soft toothbrush or tongue scraper--good oral hygiene.

May be lichens: planus or hairy leukoplakia associated with a viral infection.  Or you may have recurrent aphthous ulcers that require some Nystatin since many ulcers are related to Candida (yeast) infection.  Or herpes ulcers requiring some acyclovir.
