i found a small lump right above my knee. it is not growing and it is painless it appeared a day after basket ball should i worry ?

Tendon vs hematoma : since you've observed it after exercise it could be from your quadriceps tendon perhaps a tear or could be a bleed and a blood clot called a hematoma. None of these are dangerous. This is something you should ice within the first 36 hours and after that use heat. If it does not resolve this discuss this with your physician and possibly See an orthopedist

Discoid meniscus: The joint tightens when it flexes and a discoid lateral meniscus will pooch out. It may normally be resorbed into the adult C-shape or rarely it will break and cause trouble. Let us wait and see.

Multiple answers: Multiple possibilities: cartilage tear or injury, cyst, bone spur (less likely if you are 25), bursitis, tendon or ligament injury, neuroma (nerve injury).  This list can be narrowed with more history and an examination. Go see your doctor if it persists.

No: Significant knee pain is not common in a 17 year old. If it continues you should have the knee evaluated.

Lipoma: Most likely a lipoma that has gotten irritated.  Given that the knee is a hinge joint, that area of your knee is exposed to stress. If you noticed that the lump has recurred and increased in size and/or tenderness, get your knee examined.
