Pericardial effusion: Having an unchanged effusion for 25 years, if it was going to be change why did't happen in all these years, so the possibility of drastic change is minimal. If at all happen it may be because of some other reason.

Knee pain: sounds like there is some arthritic changes--and I suspect MRI has ruled out meniscal tear.
If not responding to high dose nsaids  ie aleve (naproxen) or Ibuprofen and rest--to orthopedics and may need a procedure

mri of right shoulder findings says normal variant os acromiale. very small glenohumeral joint effusion. trace fluid in the subacromial-subdeltoid bursa. can someone explain what this means? it doesnt seem like much. i have shoulder pain all day?

: Os Acromiale is essentially an unfused area of calcification in the shoulder joint. This condition is commonly associated with impingement of the shoulder muscles and rotator cuff tendonitis (inflammation of one of the rotator cuff muscles). The effusion is swelling within the joint space. The bursa is a pad that protects the muscle from rubbing on the bone. Hope this helps.

i have a acl&medial meniscus tear and interpositioned synovial fluid/ cysts formation with a small knee joint effusion.i would like more info, what2do?

See ORS: You apparently have torn your acl and medial meniscus. You should see a competent knee surgeon and discuss your options. At the very least u would need to have a knee 'scope and repair / resect your torn meniscus. @ age 27 most knee surgeons would recommend acl reconstruction as well ; esp.If u are active, have children, etc.And to 'protect' a potential meniscus repair.Best of luck!

87 year old male in hospital getting better with fluid build up. latest chest x-ray showing - improved aeration of left lung base. small left plural effusion. now does a thoracentesis necessary for this? lung doc says may be not. but hospital prefers?

: As I answered previously, if the etiology of the pleural effusion is not clear, thoracentesis may be indicated. I do not have enough information to make the diagnosis. However, if this patient has congestive heart failure or pneumonia and he's improved with treatment (either with diuresis or antibiotic therapy) and the left pleural effusion is small, there is no need for thoracentesis.

87 yr old male, thoracentesis was done taking 300 ml fluid out. post thoracentesis chest tube drainage was also done. hospital ok to discharge but chest x-ray still showing nominal left pleural effusion and small epical pneumothorax. is it ok?

: As long as the small left pleural effusion is not caused by an active process like pneumonia, congestive heart failure or malignancy of the lung or pleural lining, it should resolve in time. A small apical pneumothorax should also expand in time. If he's ambulating safely

No: But you didn't mention on which part of the body the echo is performed.  I would only be concerned if the sequence were reversed.

Depends : Usually this is a benign finding, but the reason for the echocardiogram and the clinical scenario are important to answer your question. I strongly suggest you sit down with the cardiologist and ask a few questions to make sure this is nothing to worry about

Not much: Both are insignificant amounts and can even be the same if the echoes were read by different cardiologists. Not to worry as most likely just a different choice of words.
