WHY???: Why is your iron (slightly) low? Low iron is almost always caused by blood loss. It is very important to you to identify the source of bleeding. Heavy menst? Frequent blood donations? Injury or surgery? Stomach ulcer? Cancer of colon or bladder? There is not a single skin problem treatable with iron. Hair loss was long said to be from low iron but this was disproved by recent research.

iron supplements: These are very similar, but may have dose differences or type of iron used differences.

No: A skin test would not be the same as side effects from taking a pill orally, particularly a medication that can cause stomach irritation or nausea. You will have to try the medication orally and hopefully will tolerate it well. I'm certain that your doctor's recommendation that you need iron to treat anemia is important, and i recommend trying the medication.

Depends: With massive blood levels of iron may fall in a matter of hours, otherwise it days to months.

i'm on 2a day  43mg of slow release iron  i've had diarareha for 2months . could i be taking to mush iron thats causing that. problem?

Yes: Iron supplements can have variable effects on bowel function.  Some add stool softeners to try to avoid constipation, and some are absorbed differently to try to avoid, but diarrhea can definitely be due to your supplements.

93/f. watery black dirreah  can't get it to slow down or stop. tried a/d meds.   recently on iron rx.    what is goin on?

Quite worrisome: As 93 years don't tend to do well with any significant diarrhea.  They are much more susceptible to dehydration and its complications compared to someone younger.  Also the blackness may be related to the iron use but could also be related to bleeding.  Consider being evaluated in person and soon to make sure nothing more concerning isn't going on.

im severly anemic and off work, when should i go back im on iron but improvement is slow. even if i go out for an hour or so i'm shattered after.

Iron: Follow up with your doctor. If the response to oral iron is poor or if you could not tolerate to oral iron, intravenous iron would be a better option for you, . Most importantly to find out why you have low iron and to fix the problem . Vitamin c can increase absorption of iron in the stomach. Take the iron with the vit c. Good luck to you.

Sort of but...: That dose is not toxic, so in that sense it's safe, but iron supps are known to cause stomach upset and constipation & such a high dose may well cause those side effects, so i advise against taking so much at once!
