Second opinion.: The pain and swelling obviously mean something. The docs may need to resee you to make the dx. If not helped see someone else. This may be from the armpit nodes such as infection or may be related to the  breast itself. Do not delay to resee someone.
Second opinion may be a surgeon.

male 53, achy "dragging sensation" armpits but no swelling or lumps, mainly right armpit, sometimes left armpit too, sometimes pain on inside of arm. light rash on front of neck below beard line. could this be cervical stenosis?

Dragging sensation: This is a nonspecific symptom and not characteristic of stenosis of the spinal canal at the cervical level. My sense is there is some muscular or ligamental component to your symptoms. A careful examination of the axillae(armpits) would check for any masses or pathological lymph glands and give you peace of mind. I don't think there is any relationship to the light neck rash.

Infection?: A lump in the armpit can be caused by several different things, one of which is infection. Do you notice lumps anywhere else on your body, particularly your neck or groin? Do you have any skin rashes or changes on your arm? Given your age, other causes of this lump and pain, although possible, are less likely.

Not cancer: When cancer spreads to a lymph node the node SLOWLY grows larger (it won't suddenly appear) and is not tender or painful. Your lump is a small boil (infected hair follicle). This is a skin abscess(collection of pus) caused by Staph aureus usually.  Warm soaks may bring  it to a head so it drains. If it continues to enlarge see a
physician because MRSA is a possibility, which can get worse.

Axilla: Sometimes an axilla(armpit) feels puffy to the patient despite no evident pathology on examination. In these circumstances an irritability and/or some tension of muscular components or, low grade skin irritation or  even a slight strain are possible causes of this discomfort. To be sure there is no pathology like enlarged deep lymph glands, have your physician examine you.

Lymph node/abscess: It needs to be checked.It may be a swollen lymph node due to infection or an abscess like a boil or a cyst
