Depends: Usually in pre op you are given something to relax you and you really don't remember a lot after that.  Then you go into the operating room and are given some medicine in your IV and in seconds you are out like a light! it is painless !

Yes: Why you could not sleep? Pain, nervousness? Talk to your anesthesiologist. But, I do not see a reason not to put you to sleep. You will have a great nap in a control environment.

Quickly: If you are asking how quickly tou will be asleep , after IV induction of anesthesia, usually with propofol, you will be asleep within one minute.

Depends: Many factors affect how quickly meds will leave your system.  With both anesthesia and sleeping medications there are a variety of types and mechanisms.  Poor functioning liver or kidneys and increased weight may slow down how fast these meds leave the body. Typically within 24 hours, most meds will be below a level to have any affect in most people.

Not bad at all: As an observer and from experience i can say that it is very much like falling asleep at home.  The key is to not fight it and just let the professionals do their job.
Some people dream.  Some don't.
