Not TMJ: TMJ stands for tempromandibular joint. It is the joint that allows our jaw to move. We all have two. TMJ Dysfunction, caused by damage to this joint, results in noise and/or pain in the joint when opening and/or closing our mouth. It does not cause ridges and/or depressions in the skull. This is not "TMJ".

i'm 39 & i've noticed a change in the shape of my skull. the flat area @ my crown is a deeper dent & i have a ridge behind both ears? causes/concerns?

Should not change: Once the skull has finished growing which is no later than 25 years old there should be no change in the skull shape. Behind the ears, the skull does feel like ridges. A further indentation at the crown area would indicate possibly some new bone growth. There are some disorders in which this occurs but they are not usually selective to just the skull. Paget's is one. See your MD and be checked.

is it normal to have bumps and ridges on the skull just around the ear?  i noticed this for some time.  are there lymph nodes in the skull?

Yes there are lymph: Lymph nodes are present around the ear.  Lymph nodes can be enlarged for many reasons. I suggest seeing physician.

if a preschooler falls & gets one linear skull fracture but no other problems, how many weeks does it take to heal, & will a ridge form along the crack?

It depends on: What type of the fracture, the liner one heal 8-12 weeks. The ridge along the crack will disappear in about one year.

i have a elevated ridge on the top of the back of my skull. my ocd makes me sometimes press on this irregularity when im stressed. can this cause brain damage? i feel a numb sensation after pressing on it but it could be from scratching the scalp?

Brain Damage, No: Human skulls are quite thick, as they should be. Pressing on your scalp will not cause brain damage.

Pathologically: several diseases including but not limited to Paget's Disease and Acromegaly...
Psychologically it means a stubborn individual
 eg "he was a thick skulled brute"

Skull: Skull has  cranial  bones &amp; facial bones.
Cranial bones are Frontal, 2 Parietal, 2 Temporal, Occipital, 2 Sphenoid.
Facial are Ethmoid, Lacrimal, Nasal, Zygomatic, Maxilla, Mandible, Orbital, Nasal, Vomer, Palatine, Styloid, Mastoid.
