2-3 inch long, 1/2 inch wide vertical crevice/indentation just off to the right on top of my skull. only just noticed it. what could it be?

Probably lifetime: Sounds like an incomplete closure of a suture in your skull.  Not unusual. A a kid these thing close up and the cartilaginous borders harden--but no always. If you remember severe head trauma, it could be a cracked skull with irregular healing or mild depression. Can't think of anything currently serious but a cracked depressed skull fracture could have been.

the side indentations on my skull by my face feel uneven. like the left one sticks out more then the right. is that normal?

Nobody is: completely symmetrical.  If the deformity is really extensive, consult with a plastic surgeon to see if anything can be done about it.  If not, it probably is of no clinical concern.

20 month old son has indent in back of skull.  otherwise normal, behaviorally and physically.  is this indentation serious?  should we treat it?

Hard to say: I would have to examine what you consider an indent to see if it is. All infants/people have a significant ridge at the back/base of the skull that drops off as the normal skull surrounds its base.

Realize : It would be very unlikely to develop a defect of that size in your calvaria without a trauma or a very serious erosive cranial process going  on.  Are you sure it's not just your normal skull surface topography? Otherwise consider having it examined in person.

Not TMJ: TMJ stands for tempromandibular joint. It is the joint that allows our jaw to move. We all have two. TMJ Dysfunction, caused by damage to this joint, results in noise and/or pain in the joint when opening and/or closing our mouth. It does not cause ridges and/or depressions in the skull. This is not "TMJ".

how do you cause and reduce the indentation on the top of a newborns skull?

Indentation newborne: If your question is about the soft spot.That is called anterior fontanella which is open at birth and closes by the time the baby is 9 month old.If you are asking for a different indentation, you have to refphrase your question as to where exactly the indentation is on newborns head.

when i was 2 i fractured my skull they said everything was healed but i get headaches in only that one spot there's an indentation in that spot also ?

Confused: Your profile said age 16 (which disqualifies you from this site) but then ou had a skull fracture at age 21.    NOnetheless, this needs to be evaluated by a doctor .

See your physician: While the skull surface isn't perfectly smooth, it doesn't usually change in adults.  See your physician.  He can examine you and order an Xray to ascertain if a problem is present

Childhood abuse: Not all childhood abuse is the same.  Physical abuse may result in a skull fracture that may be detected as a dent in the outer table of the skull.

why do i have two indentations in my skull that are symmetrical on both sides with one slightly bigger than the other? i have no pain, no dizziness, no vision problems, no nausea, nothing i just noticed them tonight. is that normal?
