is it normal for your first period after an iud removal (liletta) to be really heavy? my period was supposed to start the day after my removal, and it did. im passing a lot of pretty large clots, so unsure of whether this is normal or not?

Maybe nothing: This may just be a normal variation in your periods but you should certainly check a pregnancy test to be sure. After 1 year of unprotected intercourse without conceiving, it is time to begin a work-up if you really want a baby. Good luck.

i recently had my iud removed. does an iud removal affect when you will ovulate. or if your period returned  it should be the same (mid cycle)?

IUD removal : Most of the IUDs currently have a hormone associated with the device, progesterone. If the IUD is removed, the hormonal stimulation is also removed. It will take up to 3 cycles for your own hormonal balance to take over from what the IUD was doing. This will include ovulation which will restart after your own balance of estrogen and progesterone begin to work again.

i had a cone biopsy and iud removal in january.  i had my period feb 3rd. can either procedure cause my period to be late for march?

Hormonal imbalance: The procedures need not cause a delay. However, menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. Consult this site for more information on this topic.

Bleeding: Ovulation occurs about 14 days from the first day of your period. The actual timing is dependent upon cycle length. With 21 day cycles ovulation is on day 7; with 28 day cycles ovulation is on day 14; with 35 day cycles ovulation is on day 21. Implantation bleeding occurs 5 - 7 days after conception at about day 19 -22, assuming ovulation and conception was at day 14or 15. So, no.

Urgent medical: Anybody with these type symptoms should see urgent medical evaluation from a gynecologist. Could be a sign of infection or perforation a hole in the uterus causing a serious infection in the abdomen that requires urgent surgery or it could be a hormone in balance

Probably unrelated: It is not clear from your description what this may be but it is not something that we associate with IUD use.  If this continues to be a problem you would need an exam. In any event it is good practice to have an exam a month after IUD placement to confirm that it is still in proper position. The risk of spontaneous expulsion or displacement is increased in the first month.

Not more than 7 days: Usually you get withdrawal bleeding for few days after removal. This settles down after few days usually 5 to 7 days.
Next month you should get regular cycles

: Bleeding after IUD removal should be transient. Any bleeding you are now having will be related to your current birth control and the timing of the IUD removal with regard to your period.
