i am skinny but i have a large stomach.what causes this?

Exposures ; risks?: Abdominal distension has been addressed many times on healthtap, ; i recommend those answers to you. Can't tell here, without examination, whether your "large stomach" is due to body habitus or posture, centripetal adipose, nutritional deficiency/insufficiency causes, infectious or inflammatory disease, metabolic problems, fluid accumulation, pregnancy, etc. Please consult your physician locally.

suddenly been in a lot of pain in my lower back/waist area for past 4 days. im a female whos 18 y/o, 53, 250 lbs, & have a body figure consisting of: wide shoulders, a large chest size, narrow hips, fairly skinny legs, large bottom, large stomach.

Doctor can examine: Cause might be: back muscle strain, back ligament sprain, fractured vertebra (spondylolysis), slipped vertebra (spondylolisthesis), herniated disc, spinal stenosis, spinal arthritis, urine infection, kidney infection or stone; tumor in the spine, kidney, or elsewhere; etc...  In a teen girl whose weight should be about 120, but has been carrying an extra 130 pounds on her spine, this can be bad.

Abdominal bloating: There are lots of reasons (some quite concerning) for abdominal discomfort /bloating, but not all of them are due to the GI tract. Also, functional syndromes may be present without underlying inflammation or structural pathology.  Check with your doctor for examination & treatment options, particularly since your problem seems to be ongoing.

Perception problem: Get a tape measure and measure your abdominal circumpherence just before and right after you eat a meal and will see that your body size doesn't change in size very much after a meal. Your thoughts about your body size are of a psychological nature.

Diet AND exercise: Make sure you exercise at least 90 minutes a day, don't skip meals, avoid soda, juice, dairy, alcohol and fried foods.  Eat a healthy well balanced diet! also water, organic vegetable broth, green leafy vegetables, natural pickles, apples are great to fill you up so you dont feel hungry and they are very low in calories. Being overweight can increase ur risk of hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea.

Spot fat loss does : not occur naturally. By losing weight in general  some will probably be areas that your desire.  But, we don't get to choose what area of body fat is lost from. Eat healthy &amp; be physically active. Calories burned must &gt; those consumed.

Diet and exercise: Usually the best way to lose your stomach would be a combination of losing any belly
fat with diet restrictions and abdominal 
strengthening such as crunches and other
core exercise.
Unfortunately, it seems some people have a genetic predisposition toward a little belly 
though it can be improved.

Abdominal exercises: Try doing some pilates/yoga/piyo. Dvd's generally available at most department stores. Anything that works the core, should serve you well. Find something you enjoy, and then commit to it. It won't happen overnight.

Abdomen protrudes : there r a lot of reasons. Definitely ask your doc this question at your next checkup.y best guess is that you either have a curved back called lordosis which makes your stomach protrude or you just have weak ab muscles.  Have a pic taken of you from the side and look at your posture. if the lower back curves foreword then u have lordosis which is a normal variant - nothing to do medically.
