Why should they: Honestly, would you want your insurance premiums to pay for someone else's facelift?  Can you imagine how much our premiums would cost if insurance companies paid for cosmetic treatments? As it is, it's hard enough to get them to pay for necessary treatments.

Accepted Answer

Many things: Many things are meant by skin rejuvenation.  Perhaps there are some wrinkles.  Perhaps there are some brown spots.  Perhaps there is laxity or sun damage.   Any attempt to bring skin back to an earlier more youthful state is known as skin rejuvenation and can be performed with surgery, fillers, neurotoxins, lasers, and more!

Collagen Production: Led (light emitting diode) skin rejuvination suposedly stimulates collagen-producing cells in the skin called fibroblasts to increase the production and deposition of collagen into the middle skin layer (dermis) reducing fine lines and wrinkles.  It is also thought to inhibit inflammation and bacterial growth on the skin and inside the hair follicle.  This is why it is often used to treat acne.

Yes: Exfoliation is the most common form of rejuvenation and good to start early.  However, there are other treatments that become more aggressive depending upon age and the result that you would like to achieve.

Be Careful: Lasers allow you to preferentially target blood, pigment or water in the skin or tissues.  That way, if you are trying to get rid of brown spots on the skin of a light complected person, you will have a good result as long as the settings are properly chosen.  However, with darker skin, the laser has a tough time differentiating between normal skin color and spots to remove - be careful.

Yes and No: Skin rejuvenation takes on many forms.  Chemical peels, microdermabrasion, dermabrasion, ablative and non-ablative laser resurfacing can all be classified as skin rejuvenation methods.  Also, topical "cosmeceuticals" like tretinoin, vitamin c, antioxidants and others can also help with skin rejuvination.  Lots of options out there, so see a dermatologist or plastic surgeon for help.

Fraxel is fantastic: We have been using fraxel lasers (restore, repair and recently dual) for many years and out of 12 devices in my office they are my favorite.  I personally have had the fraxel restore and dual treatments and got great results.  My patients love them as well.

Can be : Laser resurfacing with a fractional laser can do a lot for acne scarring. Sometimes with deep cne scarring it could take a few treatments.

Depends on depth: This will depend on the depth of the peel or treatment. While superficial irregular pigmentation may improve with mild peels, deeper pigmentation will require more aggressive treatment for eradication.
