Easy.: Can take a sewing thread, tie a loose knot in it and loop it over the skin tag at the base.  Tie the knot tight and cut the string.  Repeat for each of them.  They will fall off in a few days without pain or bleeding. You might want to have the lesions on your face frozen or removed by your doc.

how to know if a skin growth is something to worry about or not? i have a small growth on my face just under my left eye.  it started out looking like i was getting a pimple.  i tried to "pop" the pimple but could not.  it hurt while i was tring to "pop"

To : To be safe your best bet would be to visit your primary care doctor or a dermatologist. It sounds like this may be a fibroma, cyst, or even a mole. It is very difficult to say without actually seeing the lesion in question. You may need a biopsy of the lesion to determine exactly what it is and the best course of action. The fact that your father has skin cancer is even more reason for you to be evaluated since certain types of skin cancer have a genetic component (most common being melanoma) so being evaluated is important regardless of wether or not your lesion looks like your father's.

Which one?: "skin tags" usually refers to papillomas- common growths around the eyes and sometimes on the neck and elsewhere. They are elevated off the skin + look like microscopic cauliflower. They sometimes have a narrow stalk at the base. They are like a wart; caused by virus. Cholesterol deposits occur as yellow slightly raised patches on the inner parts of the upper lid- called xanthelasma. Both benign.

Skin tags. : How were they removed?  And how long ago were they removed?  If they were just removed a day or two ago, swelling may not be an unexpected finding.  If it's. even longer than that, then you may want to get back to the doctor for an assessment.
