Thyroid cyst: If the ultrasound and needle aspiration reveal only a thyroid cyst, it does not require surgery.  Cysts can sometimes get bigger or smaller, but as long as it is not so large as to bother you, your endocrinologist can just watch it with a periodic ultrasound.

Aspirate: With thyroid cyst, first line therapy is to aspirate cyst. Recurrence is a risk and you will be monitored. Stay up with your doc visits and medications. If aspiration and monitoring fail, then a surgical removal the thyroid lobe with the cyst will be considered. Good luck.

i was diagnosed with an 8mm cyst on my peneal gland back in 2002, i have severe headaches i haven't seen a doc since. what treatment is there for this?

See doc: Pineal gland cyst, because of its location in the brain, may lead to headaches and visual changes such as double vision, especially if cyst is enlarging.  Cysts greater than 5mm are considered large.  Please see doc for a repeat mri.  In some cases, surgery may be necessary.  One will not know if the severe headaches are related to the pineal gland cyst or not unless further evaluation is done.

Parotid cyst: This really depends on how bothersome it is and how it looks. If its painful or looks terrible then it can be removed. You already know its benign.

Serial exams: Cysts and tumors in the pituitary can enlarge and compress structures within and outside of the pituitary gland. One symptom that tells you that it may be time to remove the offending mass is that you begin to loose the peripheral vision in both eyes (because of compression of the optic chiasm -where the optic nerves cross just in front of the pituitary) Also pituitary hormones may be affected.
