i have a sinus communication and a foreign body in sinus after tooth extraction. can an ent do the surgical procedure or must an oral surgeon do it?

is it normal to develop a headache a few days after lower molar extraction? feels sinus like  but is 4 days post procedure

It depends: Headaches after dental extraction could be associated with infection of the tooth base, but it is usually associated with symptoms of fever, pain or swelling. If you don't have these symptoms ; only have headache then it might not be related with the procedure. I would suggest you to take tylenol (acetaminophen) ; see if you don't have symptoms of infection. If there are any symptoms of infection, then see an md.

dentist won't extract my 2nd molar tooth bec i have sinus approximation.she insist on root canal.but i dont have budget.is extraction not possible?

Oral Surgeon: If your dentist feels that the extraction is beyond the scope of their abilities, you should be referred to an oral surgeon for the extraction.

Yes: Molar tooth roots can extend into the maxillary (cheek) sinuses.  During a difficult extraction of molar teeth, the bone and mucosal lining around the tooth and sinus floor can get disrupted creating an opening between the mouth and sinus cavity.  This opening or fistula, by introducing oral cavity bacteria into the sinus, can lead to sinus disease.

Possible: It is possible to feel sinus pressure after having an upper wisdom tooth removed, but it doesn't usually feel that way.  Contact your oral surgeon or dentist to make sure that you don't have an infection, or a sinus communication.  Follow up today.

They can be: Upper wisdom teeth can be impacted.  They are extremely close to the maxillary sinus.  Although most wisdom teeth are removed without complications or developing infection, it can happen.  Your provider can put you on a round of antibiotics if necessary.  Post operative visits are almost always free.  Hope this help!

Not unless: Not unless sinus perforated and not healing.  Highly improbable.  Have Dentist check healing progress.

had a tooth extraction on 7/24. was 2nd upper molar on l side. still having pain 5 weeks later in eye, cheek and some pain now on the r side cheek. oral surgeon said no infection and saw ent looked in sinus said no infection. why am i still in pain?

Unknown: If Oral Surgeon and ENT say no infection, and you are now having pain bilaterally, it may be time for a consultation with a Neurologist.

Pain: The cause of pain in any part of your body is sometimes difficult to isolate. Do you have pain in specific teeth? Do those teeth have root canal therapy or are they vital? It may be necessary to visit an endodontist to re-evaluate any teeth with root canal therapy.  Tooth fractures can sometimes cause pain without being detected. There may also be a neurological component to address.
