Antibiotic RX: 1st see if you have a true infectious sinusitis which may require antibiotics. Your eyes may clear with that. Any "red eye" that persists beyond 2 weeks should be assessed. Most viral self limited redness will clear by then. Any redness associated with visual loss should be assessed urgently.

i have red eyes, congestion, sneezing, & trouble sleeping/very tired. this happened few weeks ago and ended up with sinus infection. should i see dr?

Yes: If you continue with symptoms beyond about a week despite over the counter medications like tylenol, (acetaminophen) rest, and hydration you should see your doctor again. Viral infections may sometimes turn into bacterial infections, requiring antibiotics. Sometimes allergies can mimic a sinus infection and need prescription medications to help.

eye redness since june thst won't go away. i know i had sinus infection plus ear infections but still. makes me look ugly. eyes are usually white.

Eye redness: You may have a pollen allergy affecting your eyes. Make sure you sleep with the window closed. Over the counter eye drops are available

Possible infection: Redness of the skin around the eyes is typically from things like blepharitis, a type of inflammation of the eyelids, or from allergies.  Rubbing the eyes can also cause the redness.  The cause also depends on any other symptoms like itching, dryness, or discharge.  A sinus infection would rarely cause the redness you describe. In any case you should visit your eye doctor to have it checked out.

Probably not: Most sinus infections do not cause eye symptoms like you are describing. That sounds like an infection/irritation of your eyelashes called blepheritis. That can be treated with baby shampoo rinsing of the eyelashes. The other symptoms are most likely from allergies or an early respiratory infection. Sinus infections when they do occur do not usually need antibiotics.

Veal : Most likely viral syndrome. Continue treatment of other conditions. Hydrate, use artificial tears, and possibly cool compresses to the eyes. See your primary doctor and ophthalmologist.

Sinusitis: That is possible, but cannot possibly diagnose this over the internet without a full history and physical exam. If this persists please go and see a doctor. Canada has a great health care system.

Sinus infection: The same germ that is affecting your sinuses can affect the conjunctiva of your eyes, thereby clouding up your eyes and making it hard to focus.

Yes: If it causes facial pain and sensitivity , need to get antibiotics after confirmation of the sinusitis by clinical examination , and preferably ct scan of sinuses , to be orderd by the pcp , and if not ct scan atleast xray of sinuses. Somethimes the opening of the sinuses are blocked which tends to cause stagnation of the mucus and pus inside the sinuses and can cause pain, fever. See pcp/ent doctor.

what should i use to treat a dry cough and what seems to be a sinus infection and very watery eyes?

Accepted Answer

Observation: Your symptoms appear viral or allergic.  Dry cough is ususally idicative of a viral infections of the respiratory tract or allergy related.  Watery eyes is another symptom of viral or allegic process.  Otc cough medications may help (dextromethorphan or guaifenacin) along with otc allergy medications, rest, fluids & analgesics such as Ibuprofen or acetamenophen and observation.  See pcp if worse.
