Yes: you developed infection need treatment with antibiotics see your doctor , also will need tetanus prophylaxis .

Likely infection: There are a number of conditions which cause lymph node enlargement, with infection being the most common cause.  

Behind the ear nodes can come from the ear, the skin, teeth and possibly sinuses.  

Take some Ibuprofen (if it's safe for you) and if the node persists, seeks care.

Enlarged lymph node : This can be reactive, due to an infection or healing from a scratch or bite on your head, which is most common. If your bump is tender, painful or persists for more than a couple weeks, you should see your healthcare provider.

Post auricular LN: It is persists beyond the first  few weeks of the year then have your family doctor or your local ent doctor check you .  You may have lymph nodes elsewhere that you can not feel.  Usually the doctor will give you an antibiotic to see if it does not resolve.  If no change, then it will need to come out or get biopsied with a needle.  I see these very often and they usually go away.  Feel better!

Inflammation: Inflammation and or infection can cause painful lymph nodes. Should consult physician for possible antibiotic therapy. If further characterization of nodes necessary  ultrasound is useful tool.

Ear lobe pain: Depending on how it looks, you may need antibiotics and the lymph node may signal the infection.

: Lymph nodes often swell transiently in response to infection. Swelling in the lymph nodes of the neck often occurs with viral upper respiratory infections for example. Consider OTC pain relievers and consider getting evaluated if it does not improve in a few days.

hi. i've been having a problem with my left ear. it started off with pain and there was a swollen lymph node which was painful with touch. now the pain is gone lymph node no longer swollen but my ear is blocked. it is weak in  terms of hearing.
